This past week (May 12-15) at AUTOMATE in Detroit, MI, Mission Design & Automation helped our partner Universal Robots unveil their newest collaborative robot technology: the UR15. The Mission team created a custom dispense application to demonstrate the new cobot’s capabilities in the UR and MiR booth—alongside other machine demos utilizing the robot—at America’s largest automation show.

AUTOMATE 2025: The Largest Automation & Robotics Show in North America

Welcoming more than 40,000 industry professionals, 800 exhibitors, and 200 expert speakers, AUTOMATE is the place to go for the latest and greatest automation and robotics technology. For that reason, AUTOMATE 2025 made an ideal stage for Universal Robots to showcase the newest addition to the UR series of collaborative robots.

Mission Team at AUTOMATE 2025 ShowOn Monday, May 12, the first morning of AUTOMATE, Universal Robots held a press event where each machine demo featuring the UR15 was revealed. Virginia Berger, sales and marketing admin at Mission, removed the cover from the Mission-built-and-engineered dispense demonstration, and from there, it was on display throughout the entirety of the four-day event.

Our team is proud to support partner Universal Robots in launching their latest collaborative technology.

UR15 | What Makes it More Advanced?

How is the UR15 different from others of its kind in the UR series? The collaborative robot delivers increased speed, precision, and reachability all within a lightweight body and limited footprint.

Here are the facts:

  • Weight: 89.7 lbs
  • Payload capacity: 38.8 lbs
  • Maximum reach: 1300 mm
  • Footprint: 204 mm
  • Cleanroom, UL 1740, and TÜV certified
  • Powered by PolyScope X, new-age robot programming software
  • Utilizes OptiMove, simplified motion programming

The UR15 can be easily deployed and redeployed for multiple collaborative applications within your production. It’s designed to work in environments with strict cleanliness regulations and can do the heavy lifting often undesired by human workers.

Mission’s Custom Dispense Demo at AUTOMATE 2025

Mission AUTOMATE Show 2025 Dispense Demo Machine with UR15 Collaborative Robot

Incorporating the new UR15 robot, Mission’s custom dispensing demo machine at AUTOMATE 2025 included a few unique factors, outside of the sleek robot arm at its center. The machine also featured the revolutionary SICK Sensor Intelligence End of Arm Safeguard, and fault monitoring software from Olis Robotics. This combined technology created a safe-to-use collaborative automation solution that encourages quick diagnosis of machine fault events with 24/7 video monitoring.

While the AUTOMATE show machine was created custom to showcase the UR15, its application is a real solution that can have real impact across many manufacturing industries, including automotive, aerospace, defense, and medical devices.
