Mission team at MiCareerQuest 2025

On March 20th, 2025, Mission Design & Automation participated in MiCareerQuest, an experiential career event for middle and high school students. Started in 2015 by West Michigan Works!, MiCareerQuest offers local students the opportunity to learn about prominent industries and careers in West Michigan. The Mission team was pleased to engage kids of all ages about the automation and manufacturing industries.

Highlighting West Michigan’s Prominent Industries

At this year’s MiCareerQuest, approximately 9,000 students rotated through sectors that highlighted six high-demand industries in Michigan: agribusiness, advanced manufacturing, construction, health sciences, hospitality, and information technology.

“The number of students who attended MiCareerQuest this year was inspiring. It’s fascinating to see the wide range of career paths available to them and how some naturally gravitate toward certain industries. Throughout the day, I heard students say things like, I want to be a mechanical engineer!’ It is a great sign for the future,” said Virginia Berger, Sales and Marketing Administrator at Mission.

Promoting Automation Careers at the Mission Booth

At the Mission booth, students could test their luck on a robotic roulette wheel and see automation in action. Or they could also take a personality quiz that resulted in an automation career suggestion, sparking conversation about potential job opportunities in the field.

“I love participating in events like this. Seeing the moment when a student’s eyes light up as they watch a robot move for the first time is something truly special,” Berger said.

Mission believes in growing the industry by educating and inspiring the upcoming job force, which is why we were happy to participate in MiCareerQuest again this year.

“When young students discover their passion for a specific industry or trade, they can take the right steps early on to nurture that interest, and we’re here to support them. We’re always eager to offer student tours and job shadowing opportunities to show them that there’s a place for them in the future of manufacturing and automation,” Berger said.
